Free tours of ten parks during National Day Holiday

These include the Olympic Park, Temple of Heaven, Beihai Park and Daguanyuan (Grand View) Garden.

The official website of Haidian District Government said on August 13 that Yuyuantan (Deep Jade Pool) Park, one of the parks which will be free during National Day, has already completed its visit plan.

According to sources, in order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, free tours will be offered in ten key parks in Beijing, including the Olympic Park, Beihai Park, Temple of Heaven, Daguanyuan and Yuyuantan Park.

An officer from Yuyuantan Park mentioned that three themed activity zones will be set up. On October 2 and 3, there will be theatrical performances in the morning and afternoon respectively. Special activity zones will be set up for costume exhibitions, social dancing exhibitions as well as sports like diabolo and badminton.　

Welcoming National Day with the pipa

Before the show, child actors lined up backstage, waiting for their teachers to tune their pipa. On the evening of August 13, in Beijing Concert Hall, an orchestra of 92 children was playing the pipa to welcome the upcoming 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The youngest player was 6 years old, and the eldest was 17. The children were from a group of pipa enthusiasts from Dongcheng District Youth Center.

90 percent of stores at Qianmen Street will open for business before National Day

“These building materials are potential safety hazards, and should be eliminated as early as possible.” Starting from August 13, Qianmen police station and fire department launched safety inspections of 84 stores along Qiamen Street that were being decorated. The police station disclosed that 12 stores are already open at present, and 84 stores being outfitted are scheduled to open for business before National Day.

According to Qianmen Street property management staff, 90 percent of the stores are scheduled to open before National Day. They are currently preparing for the grand opening of Qianmen Street.
