1000 performers play guzheng at music festival

A great occasion for the art of guzheng and a long history of Chinese traditional music

On the morning of July 26 at the National Indoor Stadium, a thousand performers put on a grand show entitled “The Ode to China and the love from Dunhuang” and play the guzheng at the opening ceremony of the first Beijing Guzheng International Music Festival. The Festival was jointly organized by Beijing Municipal Commission of Ethnic Affairs and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture.

As many as a thousand guzheng performers, including professionally trained university students and amateurs from the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan, as well as guzheng lovers from Canada and Singapore, participated in the show. In order to guarantee the purity and unification of the acoustics during the performance, all one thousand guzheng used in the show were “Dunhuang Brand” guzheng provided by Shanghai No. 1 National Musical Instruments Factory.
