Ancient Jingxi Road

The Ancient Jingxi Road extends about over 100 kilometers, radiating around entire Mentougou District. There are many ancient roadside sites, stone inscriptions, passes, temples and other historical relics. Because of the long history, many ancient roads within Mentougou district have been in ruins, with many road segments overgrown with weeds and the road surface seriously damaged. After renovation, a road segment about 2 kilometers long opens to tourists, meeting the required conditions for tourism. Workers renovated this road segment which had been worn down through the years, set up signs and public toilets, and carried out preliminary repairs on the historical sites and cultural relics along the ancient road. These include the “hoof pit ruins,” Guandi Temple, Sanyi Temple, various historical records inscribed on stone tablets, passes, and watchtowers, forming an ancient road landscape.

The Ancient Jingxi Road has "Xishan Highroad" as its trunk line, which connects various branches running northwards/southwards. Of them, the middle road, south road and north road are its arteries. The ancient road was built in mountains in Mentougou district, reflecting the cultural heritage of over a thousand years. The ancient road culture contains folk, military, glaze, village and religious elements. It is of great cultural significance.
