Six stations on the northern section of Line 8 will open in 2010 prior to the project's full completion

Opening stations: According to plans, efforts will be made to ensure that the northern section of the second phase Line 8 project (Forest Park Station – Huilongguandongdajie Station) opens prior to the project's full completion. This section of the subway line will be 10.7 kilometers in total length with six stations in between. It will connect to the first phase Line 8 project at Forest Park Station, with a transfer to Line 13 at Huoying Station.

In addition, in 2010 it is to connect Gulou Station on Line 2 to the middle section of the second phase Line 8 project (Beituchung Station – Gulou Station) of five kilometers in total length with four stations. Civil engineering efforts will be made to complete the tunneling work.

Traffic improvement: This will facilitate the commute of large numbers of residents living in Huilongguan and Xisanqi communities, effectively easing severe traffic congestion on the Badaling Highway, alleviating operational pressure on the western part of Line 13 and supporting Cangping Line's smooth connection to Line 13.
