Chinese Rose celebrates its first festival in BJ

The Chinese rose, one of the city flowers of Beijing, will have its own cultural festival for the first time. On May 23, 2009 Beijing Chinese Rose Cultural Festival formally opened at Beijing Botanical Garden

On the morning of May 21, 1,300 species of Chinese roses from all over the world, including the “pink fan” Chinese rose whose flower radius can be as wide as 15-16 centimeters, gathered at the Chinese Rose Park of Beijing Botanical Garden.

According to introduction by Wang Chuncheng, Director of the Division of Flower Industry of Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau, the Chinese Rose Cultural Festival will display a total of over 150,000 Chinese Roses of 1,300 species. Of these flowers, there are a few 50-year or 100-year-old Chinese Rose kings. It is the first time that the Chinese rose, one of the city flowers of Beijing, will be displayed at such a large scale. This cultural festival will last until June 2. During the festival, the admission price of Beijing Botanical Garden will remain unchanged.
