1.惯例(guàn lì) 习惯上的做法;常规

  convention, tradition, custom

  例:按照惯例,你应该给这里的服务员小费。

  Eg: By convention, you should tip the waiter.

2.检阅(jiǎn yuè) 首长通过一定仪式检验视察部队或群众队伍

  review, inspect

  例:士兵们直立着等待检阅。

  Eg: Soldiers stand upright, waiting for review.

3.多元化(duō yuán huà) 使具有多种构成主体或构成成分

  diversification

  例:多元化是中国经济发展的必然趋势。

  Eg: Diversification has become the inevitable trend of China’s economy                             development.

4.反弹(fǎn tán) 比喻下降会又回升

  rebound

  例:股票价格暴跌之后又开始反弹。

  Eg: The stock price rebounded after a steep fall.

5.极端(jí duān) 事情发展所达到的顶点;表示程度极高。

  extreme

  例:我们对他的能力应该有正确的评价,不能从一个极端走向另一个极端。

  Eg: We should evaluate his capability properly, instead of alternating 
         from one extreme to another.

6.票房(piào fang) 电影在影院上映时卖出票的总额

  box-office receipts/returns/earnings

  例:这部影片的票房收入很高,但是观众对它的评价一般。

  Eg: Though the film gained very high box-office receipts, the                                 audience does not have a high opinion of it.
