The location of this trip was a pleasure, but its purpose was anything but. A major disease - the first of the new century - had hit the world in ways no one could have foreseen. APEC ministers gathered for an emergency meeting on SARS, scrambling to contain the damage caused not only to people鈥檚 health, but also to the health of the regional economy. Looking at this photograph, the stand up is hard to forget since it was filmed in the searing heat as I wilted in a medium-weight suit. 鈥楧ressing for weather鈥 has since become something of a personal motto!
