There have been many obstacles and challenges for this country over the past 30 years in their journey to build and develop this country into one of the worlds superpowers. I have witnessed the continued improvement of the standard of living and the education of it's people and the freedom they enjoy. I have seen the tearing down of the old and the building of the new homes, plants, roads and infrastructures to facilitate their growth. I have witnessed some of the worst natural disasters I have ever seen in my life. Yet, they continue on in their quest to improve their country and society. 2008 has been an extraordinary year for China. The flooding, the snowstorms and the terrible earthquake in Wenchuan. The Bejing Olympics and Paralympics, a spectacular and tremendous success that showed the world how developed China has become. Their space exploration program. Yes, China is a nation on the move and destined for even greater successes and recognition in the future.
Since China's opening up policy started in the 1970's, A transformation that is almost inconceivable has propelled this country into an economic superpower. China has obtained a status few others have accomplished in such a relatively short span of 30 some years. Although they still have a long way to go, what has been accomplished thus far is truly amazing. I had the privilege of being born and growing up in America, the most developed country in the world. I now have the privilege of seeing, living in, and witnessing the same transformation of this great nation.
