Huangpu signs agreement with organizer

Shanghai's Huangpu District yesterday signed an agreement with the World Expo 2010 organizer, promising to make every effort to ensure it will be a splendid event.

Zhong Yanqun, fulltime deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, said she hoped the agreement would facilitate an even closer cooperation between the two sides and that Huangpu would gather its resources and wisdom to serve the Expo.

Wang Wentao, the district's Party secretary, said the district would make efforts to ensure the success of projects at the one-square-kilometer area of the Expo site in Huangpu District.

Huangpu has already drawn up plans to improve the environment along the Expo site, which covers 5.28 square kilometers.
