An exhibition promoting the music-box-like Singapore Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo will open on June 9 in downtown Shanghai.

A model of the pavilion, one hundredth the actual size, will be on display and a video clip about the pavilion will be screened at the exhibition at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center.

The exhibition will also showcase features of the "garden city" which include Singapore's culture and urban development. It will run until June 30.

The Singapore pavilion will be a two-story 3,000-square-meter structure with an "Urban Symphony" theme. Water and gardens will be the two main elements inside the pavilion. Fountains will be built around the pavilion and there will be a roof garden with rare tropical plants transported from Singapore.

In the pavilion Singaporeans will share the experiences on urban planning that have turned the densely populated country into a famous "garden city."

Leong See Kay, director of the Singapore Tourism Board's World Expo, said Singapore has accumulated valuable experience in creating a vigorous and livable metropolis, therefore, it hopes to exchange views with other participants at the 2010 Expo.
