Locust plague on the wane in N. China
   CCTV.COM   2003-08-06 10:08:33
In China, a locust plague that swept through 14 northern provinces and autonomous regions is now under control.

In the heavily hit provinces of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Heilongjiang, the density of locusts once peaked to 600 per square meter. As part of this year's efforts to tackle the locusts, biological and ecological methods have been used to minimize environmental damage. So far, altogether 20 million hectares of land have been affected by the ravaging creatures.
