The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Games, or the BOCOG, has stressed that it will protect the new Olympic logo's intellectual property rights.

The BOCOG says it controls the rights for the logo, and that the trademark registration application is underway in China and abroad.

The Committee stressed that neither organizations nor individuals will be able to use the logo for business purposes without the express permission of the BOCOG.
