The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on Friday to discuss how to improve press coverage of meetings and leadership activities. Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, chaired the meeting.
The meeting stressed the need for a reform to implement the "three represents" theory and the spirit of the 16th Party Congress, as well as to urge the whole Party and leaders at all levels to improve their leadership and work attitude.
The meeting called upon the Central Committee and all state institutions to take the lead in supporting the reforms. The press was urged to continue correctly directing public opinion and reporting more of people's concerns.
The meeting also discussed and passed a regulation to reduce the size of political bureau delegations visiting foreign countries, cut down transport expenses, and simplify farewell and welcome ceremonies.
