Helping unemployed young people find jobs is one of the responsibilities of the Communist Youth League of China, or CYLC. The league's ongoing 15th National Congress has reported that the CYLC has helped over 35,000 enterprising young people start up small businesses.

CYLC officials said finding a job is a major concern for the country's young people and that the organization is working hard to solve problems facing young people.

Zhou Qiang, first secretary of CYLC Central Committee, said, "We offer training and create jobs. We also encourage young people to start up their own businesses, which would improve the employment situation."

The efforts began about five years ago, when the CYLC teamed up with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to launch a nationwide training campaign. Last year, the organizations had a new objective, pledging to help four million people in the next three years.

The plan aims to help at least 60 percent of them get jobs, and enable about 50,000 people to become the boss of their own company.

So far, more than 35,000 young people have started up businesses with the assistance of the CYLC, and more than 1.3 million people have received training.

The organization is also planning on utilizing international cooperation in the campaign.
