Monday July 7 marked the 66th anniversary of the outbreak of China's Anti-Japanese war. Throughout the country, people attended various events and activities to commemorate the date, and to remind the younger generation not to forget history.

Early this morning, volunteers from all walks of life in Beijing came to the Memorial Hall of China's Anti-Japanese War, located near Lugou Bridge in southwest Beijing. Here, 66-years ago, Chinese troops officially began resisting the Japanese invaders. The Hall has received altogether over 14 million visitors since it was completed in 1987.

People also gather in the places where invaders indulged in bullying the Chinese, and those sites where massacres occurred, to remind themselves and the younger generations what happened during the war. The invaders' deeds are clearly recorded by photos and in literature. One site, the location for the No.731 Regiment of the Japanese invaders is notorious for biological weapons.

A mass grave in China's northeast Helongjiang province is now on display and open to the public. A pit where many Chinese miners were buried after being subjected to torture at the hands of the Japanese was also open to the public.

Historians in Beijing and Taipei have also held seminars to commemorate the anniversary.
