China's auto market to maintain fast growth
   CCTV.COM   2003-07-28 09:07:41
The Association of Automobile Manufacturers of China says the country's auto market has maintained a robust growth momentum this year despite the outbreak of SARS. China's auto output, sales and imports have all increased in the first half of 2003.

According to the association, China's total automobile output has reached more than 2.07 million units, up 34 percent over the corresponding period of last year. Sales amounted to some 2.02 million, up 30 percent over the same period.

There's also good news for car buyers. Prices for some 80 brands of vehicles made in China are down by nearly 7 percent. And the prices of imported autos will also be lowered as tariffs are further reduced.

The association says China's rosy auto market is a by-product of China's sustainable development. It says this has led to an increasing number of private car buyers, and a general all-around improvement in the auto consumption environment.
