Six sets of blueprints for the core area of Beijing's Central Business District have been short-listed, one of which will eventually become the basis for the final construction.

The six were chosen from a total of 11 plans submitted by designers and architects from China, the US, Australia, and France.

The Beijing CBD is situated northeast of the intersection between the Jianguo Avenue and the East 3rd Ring Road. With a land area of 300,000 square meters, the area will be dotted with international business office buildings, shopping centers, luxury hotels and apartment buildings, as well as leisure and recreation facilities.

It is intended to be the hub of the capital's financial and modern service industry and international economic and cultural exchanges.
