| Chongqing sets up meteorological monitoring system |

Starting this month, southwest China's municipality Chongqing has been setting up a local monitoring meteorological system for safety shipping on the Yangtze River.
The system will collect meteorological information for the Chongqing area. It will monitor wind force and direction, visibility on the river, and the temperature of the water. These information will be relayed to the shipping department, which will in turn inform ships using the waterway.
It is hoped that the timely information will reduce shipping accidents on the river.
