The latest leg of the World Track and Field Golden League in Rome has produced a surprise for Chinese fans. One of China's best male athletes, Liu Xiang, scored a silver medal in the 110－meter hurdle race.
This is Liu Xiang's second silver medal this season in Europe. Four days ago in Croatia, he proved his competency in 13.22 seconds. Last night's performance of 13.20 seconds is one of his personal bests.
As the Golden League continues, Liu Xiang's rank is improving, from placing seventh at the first meet in Paris, to second in the latest event. His achievements are the highest among China's male track and field athletes in recent years.
