Total Investment in Pakistan Up by 100 Mln Dollars

Total investment in Pakistan has increased by 100 million U.S. dollars in this fiscal year, a report by the State Bank said on Wednesday.
The report showed that Pakistan received a total of 181 million dollars of investment in July-January 2001-2002, compared to 81 million dollars in the year-ago period.
United States invested 117.40 million dollars, UAE 15.4 million,Germany 4.6 million, Hong Kong 10.7 million, Japan 3.2 million, Saudi Arabia 2.1 million, Canada 5.4 million, Singapore 7.5 million, France 0.8 million, Switzerland 9 million while other countries made a total investment of 41.60 million in this financial year, it said.
In this fiscal year, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan also marked 55 million dollars increase.
Pakistan received 225 million dollars foreign direct investment from July 2001 to January 2002, against 170 million in the year-ago period, according to the report.
The United States remained the leading investor with a net investment of 132 million dollars. The inflow of foreign direct investment from the United States marked 100 million dollars increase this financial year. Last fiscal year the FDI figure stood at 32 million dollars.
In July-January this fiscal, Pakistan received foreign direct investment of 19 million dollars from United Kingdom, 14.60 million from the United Arab Emirates, 4.6 million from Germany, 0.8 million from France, 1.7 million from Hong Kong, 3.10 million from Japan, 2 million from Saudi Arabia, 2.9 million from Canada, 2.2 million from Singapore, 5.8 million from Switzerland and 45.6 million from other countries.
