Part One: Unforgettable Friends — Outlook and I
In the midsummer of Beijing, “The English Summer Camp of Spending the Summer of 2002 with the Star of Outlook” welcomes its campers from all over of China, most of whom are loyal audiences of the Outlook English Television Magazine program made by CCTV. To go to Beijing to take part in the live show of the final stage of the CCTV Star of Outlook English Competition is their longing-for wishes.
The hosts of CCTV Outlook English Television Magazine program and ex-Stars of Outlook also came to the camp. They shared their experience of studying English with campers. Campers seized this chance to take pictures with them and get their signatures.
Staffs of CCTV Outlook English Television Magazine program gave them a warm welcome. Nonetheless his busy work, Mr. Xu Yiming, the general producer of this program joins the summer campers, thanks them for their support and encourages them to improve their English constantly as well.
The Interview to Mr. Xu Yiming
I delegate all the comrades in CCTV Outlook English program to welcome all the students and teachers from the summer camp to come to CCTV to join the transcription of our program. And this is the program of the Third Outlook English Talent Competition. I think through this program, the students in the summer camp will definitely improve their English speaking and listening abilities. And they can find out where they fall short with these contestants in such kind of environment.
During the course of recording, the campers are impressed by program crew’s seriousness, from the show host to the program director. From this, they realize that one high quality TV program is made by all great efforts of the crew.
The Interview to Campers
I learn the information about the Outlook final competition from the Internet. So I think maybe it’s a good experience for me to compare and to have a look. I think it's a very good memory in my life. I really feel this kind of competition is very meaningful and very interesting.
In the break, two hosts, Zhao Yinqi and Zhu Hua, meet campers who are very happy to take pictures with their favorite hosts and get their signatures.
It is their first time to come to CCTV and they are curious about everything. Even the foreign teacher also talks about her great interest in this program with much excitement.
The Interview to Foreign Teacher
I met CCTV and stars of Outlook with in the summer of 2002 and we’ve been watching the activities and performances today. All the students are having a very good time. We enjoy the English competition very much.
During the hot competition, campers are impressed by the participants’ fluent English speeches and wit questions and answers, and become more and more interested in English study.
This was an unforgettable experience to go to CCTV and gather with Outlook English Television Magazine program. And such an experience would inspire these campers to make more efforts to learn English and to use English.

I’m very glad to be able to be a part of Outlook for this in China. I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to get the chance to improve their English. And I’m just glad to have the chance to help them all.

Here I wish in a year or two, or even three years of future, all the students in the summer camp will to be able to become Outlook Stars in the next competition in the future.

【第一部分】难忘的朋友--我和OUTLOOK
盛夏的北京，“我与‘希望之星’共度2002之夏英语夏令营”迎来了一批来自全国各地的营员，他们大多都是中央电视台“希望英语杂志”栏目的忠实观众。到北京参加中央电视台“希望之星”英语风采大赛全国总决赛的现场录制活动，是他们大家很久以来的共同心愿。
中央电视台“希望英语杂志”节目主持人和往届“希望之星”也来到夏令营，跟大家交流学习英语的经验。营员们又是合影又是请他们签名，生怕错过了机会。
中央电视台“希望英语杂志”栏目组的工作人员，热情地欢迎欢迎他们的到来。栏目总制片人徐义鸣老师在繁忙的工作之余，来到营员们中间，感谢大家对节目的支持，鼓励大家不断提高英语水平。

我代表中央电视台“希望英语杂志”栏目的全体同志，欢迎夏令营的全体老师和同学来到中央电视台，参加我们的节目的录制。这次我们录制的是第三界“希望之星”英语风采大赛的节目。我想通过这次节目的录制，咱们夏令营的这些同学们肯定会提高英语听说能力，而且在这样一个环境中，可以找到自己和这些选手们的英语差距。
中央电视台演播厅充满了紧张的气氛。节目录制过程中，栏目组的工作人员以及节目编导们认真负责的工作态度给营员们留下了深刻的印象。主持人一遍遍的走场，使营员们眼中充满了惊奇和敬佩。大家感到，一台高质量电视节目的制作倾注了栏目组全体人员的心血和汗水。

我从网上得到了关于“希望之星”英语大赛的消息，我想这次对于我来说是一个去看看比比的好经历。它在我的一生中将是美好的回忆。我觉得这种比赛很有意义也很有趣。
中场休息时，节目主持人赵音奇和朱华来到营员们中间，大家纷纷请他们签字留言。能够跟自己喜爱的主持人合影留念，大家心里别提有多高兴了。
第一次来到中央电视台，他们对什么都充满了好奇，连外籍教师也兴奋地跟大家谈起了她对节目的浓厚兴趣。

我在2002年夏天和“希望英语之星”以及中央电视台相遇，并且我们今天观看了这些活动和表演。所有的学生都过的很愉快。我们非常喜欢这个英语比赛。
紧张激烈的比赛中，参赛选手们流利的英语演讲、机智的对答，使营员们开阔了自己的眼界，加深了他们学习英语的兴趣。
