Nanjing has its share of celebrities and you'll soon be able to see who they are. After six months of preparation, a new project to put statues of famous residents on display in streets is well underway.

The first five models for the project have been recently completed. All of the subjects were born or once lived in Nanjing. They include Cao Xueqin, the author of "A Dream of Red Mansions"; Zu Chongzhi, the great mathematician who calculated the volume of spheres; and poet Wang Anshi of the Song Dynasty. Models of calligraphers Wang Xizhi of the Jin Dynasty, and Yan Zhenqing of Tang Dynasty are also finished. The models will soon be made into two meter high statutes, and will be displayed on Nanjing streets and squares.
