Jingdezhen, China's famous ancient porcelain capital, has also come up with a "porcelain band" which has been performing for a number of years. The band is currently touring to Shunde, a city of the southern province of Guangdong.

"A Night of Flowers and Moonlight by the Spring River", and "Blooming Flowers And Full Moon" as well as other familiar classic Chinese tunes were flowing out of the porcelain musical instruments played by an all-girl-band, leaving listeners mesmerized.

According to historical records, musical instruments made of porcelain were very popular in ancient China. One of the poems in The Book of Songs, the earliest collection of Chinese poems, depicts how farmers used to celebrate a bumper harvest by beating on porcelain wares in the fields.

The 11 kinds of musical instruments played by the 17 member band includes bowls, chimes, flutes, vertical flutes, and of course the irreplaceable erhu, the two stringed fiddle. All the instruments are exquisitely made with top quality porcelain clay by master craftsmen.
