Last year was the 30th annibersary of the establishment of Chinese and Australian diplomatic relations. To celebrate this historic event, CCTV internatonal held a special gala named “Hand in Hand” in Melbourne, Australia. In coming editions of the Center Stage on January 21 and 22, we will bring you the highlights of the gala, a showcase of the splendid cultures of the two countries. So please join us then.

Hand in Hand is a cultural exchange project of CCTV International that was launched several years ago. As a cultural ambassador, the Hand in Hand Art Troupe has toured many places around the world. It not only helps foreign audiences to get a better understanding of Chinese culture but also helps Chinese people to get a real sense of the local flavor of countries that the Troupe visits.

Founded in 1976, the Australian Children’s Choir is one of the oldest children’s choirs in Australia. Here, boys and girls are encouraged to pursue musical excellence in a friendly team enviroment. In this year’s gala, they bring us tow songs: “I’m Australian” and “Black Swana.” Australia is a diverse country. Everyone apart from the original inhabitants of the land, the Australia Aboriginals, is an immigrant of some kind. There is a well-known singing group in Australia. They are three talented Chinese tenors who live in Australia and they have named themselves the Dragon Three Tenors, which reminds them that they are Chinese, the descendants of the Dragon. The veteran Taiwanese folk singer, Fei Yuqing is a popular and polite guy. He started his singing career almost 26 years ago. Even though he’s in his mid-40s, he is still active on stages at home and abroad. He has many middle–aged fans in China as well as in Australia. In our program, you can enjoy one of his favoraite songs Plum Blossom.

The Hand in Hand project has become one of the most important overseas musical events put on by CCTV International. It attracts a growing number of chart-topping artists from many parts of country and also features some promising younger artists. These artists include Sunyue, Tianzhen, Teng’er and Mao Amin and Huangfeng. During the show, you will also be treated by some fantastic shows such as dance performance, martial arts and cello solo. To see more of our program, please do join Center Stage on Jan. 21 and 22.
