A museum has opened in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, to mark the one-year anniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake.

The museum opened at 2:28 pm today, the time the quake struck nearly a year ago. Some eight thousand items are on display. The founder of the museum, Fan Jian-chuan, invested 25 million yuan in building it. Admission is free. The 52 year-old entrepreneur says he wants people to remember the tragic moment.
