Japanese prime minister visits Germany

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. They discussed the global economic crisis and other major issues.

The leaders say they believe development and police training are keys to Afghanistan's stability.

They advocate engaging Pakistan and Iran in a broader strategy to secure the region. Merkel voiced support for a return to the six-party talks on the DPRK nuclear issue.
