John Thomas Jr. was arrested on the night of March 31 and has been held with bail, according to the website of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The 72-year-old man was charged on April 2 with murder in connection with the deaths of two women, aged 68 and 67, in 1970s in Los Angeles.

Thomas' DNA has been tied to the two murder cases and three other homicides, two in 1970s and one in 1986, according to Richard Bengston, a cold case detective of the Los Angeles Police Department.
