Death toll from landslides rises to 14

Two landslides claimed fourteen lives in southwestern China's Yunnan province on Sunday. One landslide was the result of an industrial accident, while the other was a natural disaster.

Two landslides claimed fourteen lives in southwestern  China's Yunnan province on Sunday. One landslide was  the result of an industrial accident, while the other  was a natural disaster.

Local authorities say the landslide in Linfeng township was caused by unsafe quarry production. The other in Zhaxi township was the result of continuous heavy rainfall.

So far, fourteen people were confirmed dead and two are in a stable condition in hospital. Twelve others are missing. Search and rescue work is still underway, but officials say there is little hope of finding any survivors.
