Hong Kong confirms H5N1 bird flu

Authorities in Hong Kong have confirmed that the H5N1 strain of bird flu has hit a local chicken farm. Latest tests show three chickens found dead at the farm were carrying the leathal virus.

The government continues to cull chickens within three kilometers of the affected farm. Meanwhile, it's already ordered the slaughter of more than 80,000 birds as a precautionary measure. The local government has also imposed a 21-day ban on poultry imports, which will run through the Christmas holiday.
