Russia, Cuba discuss trade cooperation

Visiting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Cuban leader Raul Castro have held talks promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Russia says 187.5 million US dollars worth of trade passed between the two countries in the first eight months of this year.

That's an 18 percent increase over the same period last year. Also on the agenda during the talks were cooperation in energy, transportation and high technology.

Medvedev arrived in Havana on Thursday. Cuba is the final leg of his four-nation Latin America tour, which has already taken him to Peru, Brazil,and Venezuela.
