South Korea's Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Hon-yeon says Seoul has told Pyongyang that nine workers at the economic office will leave on Friday.

The pullout plan was drawn up after the DPRK demanded the office be shut down and non-essential workers at South Korean companies in the factory complex leave.

The plan comes as relations between the two sides continue to deteriorate.

The DPRK announced the measure on Monday over what it called Seoul's "confrontational" policy.
