Cold front hits northeast China

Heavy wind and storms have slashed northeast China's Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces. A cold front moving east has severely affected the weather. The visibility in some areas is less than 100 meters.

The two provinces have witnessed foggy weather for two days, with some cities being hit by sleet. On Wednesday night, part of the expressway between Beijing and Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province was forced to close for over 12 hours. The road resumed traffic Thursday morning.

Forecasters say a new powerful cold front will hit Beijing on Saturday, bringing heavy wind and lower temperatures. Most of northern China will experience heavy wind and the temperature will drop six to eight degrees Celsius.
