Top Chinese legislator arrives in Seychelles for official visit

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has arrived in the Seychelles at the invitation of President James Alix Michel and Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Herminie.

The chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress is beginning an official visit to the country on the final leg of his five-nation African tour.
Wu released a written statement at the airport upon his arrival on Wednesday afternoon. He highlighted the rapid development of China-Seychelles relations over the past 32 years since the two nations forged diplomatic relations. Wu noted that cooperation between the two nations has brought concrete benefit to both sides. He said he is looking forward to meeting with President Michel and Speaker Herminie to exchange views on issues of common concern.
Wu called on the two sides to develop "new ways and new approaches" to expand cooperation -- to boost ties between the two nations to a higher level.
