Regional civil affairs departments have been rushing relief supplies, such as tents and food, to the quake zones in Lhasa and the bordering areas of Xigaze and Shannan.

A local relief operation official says he hopes the quake survivors will get through the winter safely, with a place to live and enough food and clothing.

So far, the regional government has allocated 9.2 million yuan for emergency relief. At least 18 people have been injured and 171 homes destroyed in the worst snowstorm to hit Tibet since the plateau began to take weather records.
