Mottaki made the remarks at a joint press conference with his visiting Venezuelan counterpart.

Speaking after talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro, Mottaki confirmed Iran's intentions to continue its nuclear activities despite international objections.

He said that western countries are not trustworthy and spoke out about what he saw as the biggest hindrance to Tehran's developing atomic activities.

Manouchehr Mottaki, Iranian FM, said, "We have seen the promises of different countries while cooperating on peaceful nuclear activities with Iran, and the worst of them in breaking their promises was America."

Venezuela has also repeatedly challenged Washington, notably by defending Iran's nuclear activitiesdespite strong condemnation by the United States and Europe.

Maduro referred to Venezuela's ties with Iran as a relationship between brothers.

Washington and its European allies have accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. But Iran says it wants nuclear technology to make electricity so it can export more of its hydrocarbons.
