Hundreds of people have taken to the streets in Rome to protest against racism. The demonstration follows several recent attacks against immigrants in Italy.

Protestors carried signs calling for the right to stay in the country for everyone. They say many immigrants were brutally assaulted recently.

In September, six African immigrants were killed in a gangland-style shooting in Caserta, a city near Naples. And in the northern city of Parma, seven local police are being investigated for violence against a young Ghanaian student.

Local media also say that in Milan, a 19-year-old man from Burkina Faso was beaten to death by two bar owners.
