Iran may reconsider uranium enrichment

Iran has indicated it will reconsider its uranium enrichment program, if it gets guarantees of regular international fuel supplies for its nuclear power plants. Ali Ashgar Soltanieh, chief Iranian delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency, made the remark at Thursday's conference on Iran's nuclear program organized by the European Policy Centre in Brussels.

Soltanieh declined to clarify whether his remark means Iran would halt uranium enrichment in return for international guarantees, suggesting it might have to continue at a diminished level in case outside supply stops. Soltanieh warns Iran will continue uranium enrichment if there is no legally binding international guarantee of nuclear fuel supply.
