Millions flee New Orleans as Gustav approaches

11 million residents along the US Gulf Coast have started to evacuate as Hurricane Gustav bears down on the region. After pounding Cuba over the weekend, the Category 3 storm is posing a threat to the Gulf of Mexico and on its way to southern US coastal areas.
Hurricane Gustav is set to make landfall in the US on Monday.

The mayor of New Orleans has ordered the mandatory evacuation of the city of more than two hundred thousand residents.
The government lined up hundreds of buses and trains to transport evacuees.
Authorities in four other coastal states, including Texas and Mississippi, have also issued evacuation orders.
