Since last weekend, dress rehearsals have been held daily for the Fuwa Float Parade. Dominating the scene are the cute Olympic mascots: Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, and Nini. Their names together in Chinese spell out "Bejing Welcomes You", a hearty message that the host city is sending to people from the four corners of the globe.

The large-scale show involves a total of 200 performers, organized into eight groups. Besides each Olympic mascot, there is also a section for cheerleaders, the Olympic Emblem, and the Beijing Games' Logo.

Centering around the official theme of "One World, One Dream", the show displays remarkable originality on the part of its creators. According to organizers, all the floats were designed by renowned artists in China.

With less than two weeks until the global sporting gala, the performers have intensified their rehearsals, braving the scorching sun of a Beijing summer. When the Games open, the show will be one of three major cultural events at the center of the Olympic Green. Running from August 9th to the 23rd, it will be the first large-scale mascot float parade in the history of the Olympic Games.
