It's another success for the country's artificial breeding program. Nine-year-old Qiyuan gave birth to a pair of twin female cubs on Saturday afternoon at the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center. Eight-year-old Chenggong gave birth to a cub later in the day.

Another eight-year-old, Zhuzhu, gave birth on Sunday morning. The center has 71 pandas in captivity, making it the largest in the world.

Twelve panda twins were born in captivity in the country last year, the most since the artificial breeding program started more than 40 years ago.
