Olympic torch relay begins in Jinan

The Olympic torch relay has begun in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong. It's the final leg in the province.

Today's relay starts from the Shandong Provincial Stadium and will end at Qilu software park in the High-Tech Development Zone. 243 torchbearers are participating in the 13.5 kilometer run.

The first torchbearer is Gong Xiaobin, the head coach of  CBA's Shandong Lions.

Jinan is known as the "Spring City" for its numerous natural springs. The relay gives Jinan a chance to showcase its cultural heritage, science and technology, and economic development. After Jinan, the Olympic flame will head to Zhengzhou of Henan province tomorrow.
