Serbian forces arrest war crimes suspect

One of the world's top war crimes fugitives has been arrested in a sweep by Serbian security forces. Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is accused, by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, of masterminding mass killings during the Bosnian war between 1992 and 1995.

Serbian state television says he was arrested Monday night. Serbia has been under intense pressure from the European Union to turn over suspects to the international tribunal in The Hague. Karadzic would be the 44th Serb suspect extradited to the tribunal.
Karadzic's wartime commander, General Ratko Mladic, is still on the loose. He was also indicted in 1995 for genocide and crimes against humanity in Bosnia.
