Beijing begins 2-month vehicle control plan for Olympic Games

As a result of the vehicle control scheme, an additional four million people are expected to take advantage of the public transportation system during the Olympic period.

Feng Xingfu, Vice Manager of Beijing Bus Group Co., said, "It has taken three years to replace 13-thousand old buses. And now, over 97 percent of our buses have met EU-3 and EU-4 emission standards."

Beijing authorities say the restrictions are expected to take about two million cars off the roads significantly easing traffic congestion and improving the environment for the Games.
