Local transport authorities predict that Beijing will see up to 4.3 million more people turning to public transport during the Olympics. Currently, there are over 20 thousand buses running in the city.
During the Olympic Games, there will be more frequent services at some bus stations, with more than 350 bus routes operating between 5.30 am to 10 pm. The city will also launch 34 special bus routes just for the Olympics, with temporary services for sporting venues.

Meanwhile, Beijing's subway authorities are also raising passenger capacities. Three new lines are about to open. Many lines will run more frequently, as more new trains are put into operation.
The city's transport authority also requires more than 95 percent of the city's taxis to operate during the Olympics. That means the taxis can carry 600 thousand more passengers per day than usual.
