Tibetologists visit Switzerland and US

Delegations of Chinese Tibetologists are visiting Switzerland and the US, in hopes of promoting mutual understanding on the Tibet issue.

The Swiss tour is the first in nearly decade for Chinese Tibetologists.

The delegation held a meeting with representatives of overseas Chinese, and briefed them on the March 14th riot and recent negotiations between the representatives of the Chinese central government and the Dalai Lama's envoy. They also met with representatives from local media.

In the United States, the visiting Tibetologists met with the media, government officials, lawmakers and scholars to present their views on Tibet issues, including the central government's policy, religious freedom and Tibetan cultural preservation.

A photo exhibition which chronicles Tibet's history, also opened at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. Wednesday.

With 160 items and more than four-hundred photographs, the show is expected to help American people better understand the Tibet issue.
