Olympic flame kicks off relay in Shenyang

The Torch Relay for the Beijing Olympics has just started its journey through Shenyang -- the capital city of northeast China's Liaoning province.

The first torchbearer is professor Liu Hongtu from the Dalian university of Technology. He's the son of Liu Changchun -- China's first athlete who competed in the 1932 Olympic Games. Liu Hongtu kicked-off the relay from Fengzhiyi Square at World Expo Park.
A total of 241 torchbearers will carry the torch along the 10 kilometers route which is expected to last about 3 hours. The final torchbearer will be Su Hongzhang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shengyang Municipal Committee. He will light the cauldron at Ice World Square at Qipanshan Mountain.
Shengyang is the first leg of the torch relay in Liaoning. The flame will then head to Anshan city.
