Petrobras expects to maintain full capacity until the end of the five-day strike that started at midnight on Sunday. The strike affects production in the Campos basin, which accounts for more than 80 percent of Brazil's crude output. Petrobras implemented a contingency plan placing emergency staff on most drilling platforms.

The union that the workers belong to says that new round of talks could resume on Wednesday. However, another union is threatening a walkout that may extend the strike to the rest of the country and include refineries and shipping terminals.
