Second boat sinks off east China coast, at least 10 missing

HANGZHOU, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A fishing boat sank off east China's coast on Friday, leaving at least 10 people missing, a police spokesman said.

The vessel, carrying a group of people who went angling, went down at about 5 p.m. in the East China Sea, near Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, said Jia Ce, a border defense police officer.

The exact number of people aboard the boat and the cause of sinking were not immediately known, Jia said.

Local fishery and border defense authorities have launched a search.

It is the second vessel to sink in the East China Sea in two days.

Twelve seaman are missing after a tornado capsized their fishing boat, throwing 15 crew members into the water near Zhejiang's Zhoushan City just after on Wednesday just after midnight.

Three seamen were rescued, and more than 30 rescue boats and a helicopter are searching for the rest.
