The first ever tourist group from the mainland is gearing up for a Taiwan tour. Over 100 Guangdong residents are anticipating the beautiful sights on the other side of the Taiwan Straits.

Many of these travellers have been around the world, but none of their previous trips can compare with this one. Ranging from 18 to 75, the tourists achieved their positions with eagerness and luck.

Travel agency reveals that they will see a "high-level" reception in Taiwan and will tour all the local landmarks. But the price to pay for this significant trip is a packed schedule.

Ms. Fan's brother went to Taiwan 50 years ago. The two used to meet in Hong Kong. This time, the travel flights enables her not only to tour the island, but also to meet her relatives in Taiwan.

Fan Qingju, one mainland tourist said "I will call my brother when I arrive in Taiwan and his son will pick me up to meet him."

One couple even cancelled their scheduled 40th wedding anniversary trip just to get this opportunity.

The tourists will fly to Taiwan early on Friday morning.

Travel agencies in Guangdong launched the mainland's first service for residents' trip abroad 25 years ago. Now, another first has been made here.
