Many provinces in south and central China will get hit with steady downpours before Sunday, and some will face heavy storms.

Yang Guiming, Forecaster of National Meteorological Center said "The rainfall will weaken after July 6th, and the rain belt will move north."

The quake zone will face a new round of downpours on Thursday and Friday. As the rainy season approaches, precipitation in the area will increase significantly this month.

Zhao Guangzhong, Head of Sichuan Province Meteorological Bureau said "Take Beichuan County for example, the average rainfall in June is about one hundred and forty millimeters, and will increase to nearly 400 in July. Now, the makeshift houses are built on flat and open areas, where lightning incidents can easily happen."

Sichuan Province has already put 100 million yuan towards protection from lightning storms.
